1. Your Specs terms and conditions of supply
2. Any Order and subsequent purchase of Goods (as defined below) or services from us shall be governed by the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully. Please also view the Your Specs privacy policy.
3. These terms and conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
“Your Specs” is the trading name, trading on the internet at www.yourspecs.co.uk. “We” / “Us” / “Our” refers to Your Specs, “You” / “Yours” refers to the Customer.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
1. Where applicable, prescription spectacles and other prescription eyewear are supplied in accordance with the Opticians Act 1989 and related UK legislation.
2. Prescription orders are authorised by, or under the supervision of, a registered Dispensing Optician or Optometrist where required by law. Our dispensing professionals are registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) where required by law.
3. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order where, in our professional judgement, supplying the Goods may not be appropriate or lawful.
4. Nothing in these Terms constitutes medical advice. We supply Goods strictly in accordance with the prescription information provided by you.
Defined Terms
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:
- “Goods” means any spectacles, prescription eyewear, glazed sunglasses, frames, or other products supplied by Your Specs.
- “Order” means any request by you to purchase Goods or services from Your Specs via the Website.
- “Website” means www.yourspecs.co.uk.
- “Customer” / “You” / “Yours” means any person who purchases or attempts to purchase Goods from Your Specs.
- “We” / “Us” / “Our” means Your Specs, the trading entity of www.yourspecs.co.uk.
1. Customer Obligations
When you are purchasing spectacles or glazed sunglasses in our online shop, you confirm the following:
1. You are aged 16 or over and are not registered blind or partially sighted;
2. You are in possession of a written prescription for your spectacles that has been given to you by a suitably qualified person in the last 24 months (or 12 months if you are aged 70 or over); and
3. You are not buying glasses on behalf of anyone under the age of 16.
4. You will supply accurate details of your current prescription (including any notes on the prescription) when requested.
5. If you choose not to provide your Pupil Distance (PD), we may apply a standard default measurement. By proceeding without providing your PD, you acknowledge that visual performance may be affected and accept responsibility for this choice. We shall not be liable for any visual discomfort or adaptation issues arising from the use of a default PD measurement.
6. We rely entirely on the prescription details, measurements and other information provided by you at the time of order. We do not independently verify prescriptions. You are solely responsible for ensuring that all information supplied is accurate, complete and up to date. We shall not be responsible for any issues, visual discomfort, incorrect vision, or loss arising from inaccurate, incomplete or outdated prescription information provided by you.
Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By placing an Order, you acknowledge and consent to the collection, storage, and use of your personal data in line with UK data protection law. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details.
2. Making a Purchase and Orders for Goods
1. Orders to Your Specs must be submitted via the web at www.yourspecs.co.uk.
2. Submission of an Order represents an offer to purchase Goods from Your Specs, and we may confirm receipt of this offer via email (if the Order is placed via the Site).
3. A legally binding contract is formed only when we send you confirmation that your Order has been accepted.
4. Prescription Glasses orders are only accepted by us once your payment has been processed and they have been reviewed and authorised by a Dispensing Optician or Optometrist. In the case of the non prescription goods, your order is accepted once the required payment has been accepted or when the relevant goods are shipped, whichever occurs first. We will confirm acceptance of your Order via email or verbally.
3. Limitations of Supply
1. Whilst we take reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of all information, errors in pricing, descriptions or specifications may occasionally occur. In such circumstances, we reserve the right to cancel or amend the Order prior to acceptance.We are entitled to contest the declaration of acceptance as defined in this agreement in all such cases. We also assume no liability whatsoever as to the accuracy of the manufacturer’s description.
2. We will make a reasonable effort to ensure that all Orders are fulfilled; however we cannot guarantee the availability of Goods. If the Goods you have ordered are unavailable, we will attempt to contact you to give you a choice to receive an alternative or a refund. If we are unable to contact you, your Order will be cancelled and you will be given a full refund.
3. On the advice of our Dispensing Opticians, we have absolute discretion as to whether or not to accept your Order.
4. If considered necessary or appropriate before an Order is accepted, Your Specs Dispensing Opticians have absolute discretion:
- to in exceptional circumstances arrange a free face to face consultation with customers;
- to request that you send us a copy of your written prescription;
- to contact directly, or request that you contact, the optician who provided your prescription to verify and/or discuss your prescription;
- to request that you obtain your pupil distance measurement from your optician; or
- request that you obtain a new written prescription from your optician.
4. Payment and Prices
1. Prices stated are inclusive of any Value Added Tax (VAT) that may be required to be remitted to tax authorities by Your Specs.
2. We will use best endeavours to ensure the accuracy of the prices and price related information stated in our current catalogue and on the Site.
3. However we cannot guarantee that we will not make a mistake and misprice an item inadvertently. If this is the case, the Dispensing Optician reviewing and authorising your Order will notify you of the error before your payment is processed. You will then have the choice to either accept the correct price or to cancel your Order.
4. All prices are stated in Pounds Sterling (£) and include VAT where applicable in accordance with UK tax legislation. The price shown at checkout is the final retail price payable.
5. When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 256 bit encryption. Online payments are secured with the latest SSL technology.
5. Delivery and Shipping
1. We will make reasonable endeavours to ensure your Goods are dispatched to you as quickly as possible after placing your order.
2. Standard Frames (Single Vision)
Most standard frames with single vision lenses will usually be dispatched within 7 working days.
3. Standard Frames (Occupational & Bifocal)
Most standard frames with bifocal lenses will usually be dispatched within 10 to 14 working days. Please allow 2 to 3 days longer for anti-reflective coated bifocals.
4. Standard Frames (Varifocal)
Varifocal glasses are normally dispatched between 10 to 14 working days after we receive your varifocal fitting measurements.
5. Designer Glasses and Sunglasses (Out of Stock)
Designer frames are usually dispatched within 10-14 working days. We then need to glaze the frames with your prescription which can take an additional amount of time dependant upon the lens option described in section 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4. However, some models & colours may take longer if out of stock with our suppliers. (We will always notify you of any delays with designer frames and give you the option to exchange or cancel).
6. Rimless Frames
Rimless glasses are usually dispatched within at least 14 working days.
7. Sunglasses (Non prescription)
All sunglasses in-stock are usually dispatched within 1 to 2 working days (except Bank & Public Holidays).
8. Sunglasses (with prescription)
Prescription sunglasses can take an additional amount of time dependant upon the lens option described in section 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4.
9. You will be notified by email at the time your Goods are dispatched.
10. Delivery of the Goods will be made to the address provided by you at the time you placed your Order.
11. UK shipping is by Royal Mail First Class, Royal Mail First Class Recorded or Royal Mail Special Delivery.
We currently deliver to addresses within the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) only. We do not offer shipping outside the United Kingdom.
12. If you choose to arrange collection of the Goods using your own nominated courier, delivery shall be deemed to take place at the time the Goods are collected from our premises by your nominated courier. From that point, risk in the Goods passes to you. We shall not be responsible for any loss or damage occurring after collection by your nominated courier.
13. If your Goods are not delivered safely within a reasonable number of days of you receiving notification of dispatch, you should contact us. Customers should promptly inspect goods delivered to them to satisfy themselves that any goods delivered to them are as expected.
14. If delivery is delayed due to events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to postal disruption, strikes, supply chain interruption or force majeure events, delivery times may be extended. If the delay exceeds 30 days, either party may cancel the Order and receive a full refund.
15. In the case of non delivery, if either Your Specs or our courier is at fault, you will be offered the choice of a full refund or re-delivery. Risk in the Goods shall pass to you when the Goods come into your physical possession or that of a person identified by you to take possession.
6. Returns (of Goods)
Prescription Products (Custom-Made Items)
All prescription lenses and prescription eyewear are custom-made to the individual customer’s specifications.In accordance with Regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, bespoke or personalised goods are exempt from the 14-day cancellation period. Once production has commenced, prescription orders cannot be cancelled or returned unless faulty. Production is deemed to have commenced once the prescription order has been submitted for lens manufacture or glazing. Frame selection alone does not constitute commencement of production.
Order Amendments & Cancellations
Orders may only be amended or cancelled before production has commenced. Once a prescription order has entered production, it cannot be modified or cancelled.
Where prescription details provided by the customer are incorrect, incomplete or unsuitable, the Goods shall not be considered faulty or unfit for purpose.
Where returned Goods are found not to be faulty, we reserve the right to return the Goods to you and may charge a reasonable inspection and re-delivery fee.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights where Goods are faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose.

7. Warranty
1. Should the delivered merchandise be defective or its warranted qualities flawed, or should it develop defects within the warranty period as a result of poor materials or faulty manufacturing, then we will either repair the items or provide you with a replacement. If Goods are found to be faulty due to manufacturing defect within 12 months of delivery, we will repair or replace the item at our discretion. We reserve the right to refuse your choice of subsequent fulfillment if it entails disproportionately high costs.
2. The warranty period begins with the date of delivery and lasts for one year.
3. Where a refund is applicable under these Terms or under UK consumer law, we will process the refund within 14 days of receiving the returned Goods or, where applicable, within 14 days of agreeing that a refund is due.
4. All claims must be made in writing (email, fax or letter) and any defects communicated to us without delay as soon as they become apparent.
5. Upon discovery of any obvious deficiencies, and in order to prevent any further deterioration of the merchandise, you are obliged to inform us immediately. Defective merchandise must be returned to us for inspection in the same condition at the time that it was discovered as being faulty.
8. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
- any matter for which it would be unlawful to exclude or limit liability
Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or unforeseeable losses arising from the supply of Goods, and our total liability arising under or in connection with any Order shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the Goods giving rise to the claim.
9. Maintenance of our Website
1. Access to our Website is permitted on a temporary basis and we reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on our Website, at any time and for any reason, without notice to you. We will not be liable for any reason if the Website is unavailable at any time or for any period.
2. From time to time, we may restrict access to some parts of our Website to users who have registered with us. Your account details can be updated at any time.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Any invalid provision shall be interpreted in a manner that best achieves the intended purpose.
Variation of Terms
We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on our Website and will take effect immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Website or purchase of Goods constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Copyright and Trademarks
1. The Site’s design, names, text, images, graphics, logo are all owned by, or licensed to, Your Specs. They may not be reproduced for any commercial or public purpose without the expressed consent of Your Specs.
2. The “Your Specs” name or any other registered or unregistered trademarks displayed on the Site may not be used without the prior consent of Your Specs.
3. These Terms and Conditions of Sales should be read in conjunction with Your Specs Privacy Policy. Your statutory rights are not affected. For more information about your statutory rights, you may contact Citizens Advice or visit www.gov.uk.
